Human Tissue Acquisition and Pathology (HTAP)

Overview of Services

Pathology Consultation

One of our experienced pathologist will sit with you to review your slides.  Contact for Consultation:  713-798-6795

Histology Core Lab

The Routine Histology Core Lab provides expert processing, embedding, cutting, and staining of human and animal tissue.  This laboratory works closely with the Immunohistochemistry Core Lab and Human Tissue Acquisition and Pathology, which together can provide investigators with professional samples for further research.  Contact for Histology Lab: 713-798-0122.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Core Lab

The Immunohistochemistry Core Lab provides expertise, equipment and procedures relevant to research involving IHC on human and animal tissue.  This laboratory works closely with the Routine Histology Core Lab and Human Tissue Acquisition and Pathology, which together can provide investigators with appropriate controls for their research.  Contact for IHC lab: 713-798-3193.

Laser Capture Microdissection Core Lab

Laser capture microdissection with the Arcturus XT instrument is a way for researchers to isolate a particular type of cell or a group of cells with very little contamination. This allows DNA and RNA to be isolated from the cells. Other services that can be done after isolating RNA and/or DNA are the amplification of the RNA and/or DNA. Tissue samples can be submitted as frozen and paraffin sections. Please, contact Patricia Castro for a quote.  Contact for LCM: 713-798-6795.

Image Analysis Core Lab

HTAP can provide state of the art image analysis of standard sections or tissue microarrays using inForm software. Sections can be stained with standard stains, immunohistochemical stains or immunofluorescence stains. Stains can be multiplexed for complex multi-analyte analyses and colocalization studies. inForm can be trained to find virtually any tissue type, structure, or tissue subtype. Moreover, inForm can provide area object counts or be used to automatically assess IHC staining levels on a cell-by-cell and sub-cellular basis, providing extremely accurate and sensitive quantitation. Contact for Imaging services: 713-798-6795.
