Advanced Cell Engineering and 3D Models Core

Overview of Services

Welcome to the Advanced Cell Engineering and 3D Models Core at Baylor College of Medicine.

Continuing the tradition of innovative collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine, the Robert J. Kleberg, Jr. and Helen C. Kleberg Foundation has generously donated $2.26 million to enable the establishment of the Cell-Based Assay Screening Service (C-BASS) core facility, housed in the Verna and Marrs McLean Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.  By providing access to professional expertise and a variety of cutting-edge technologies and robotics platforms, the C-BASS core facility seeks to facilitate the advancement of our understanding of complex biological questions using well-established model systems, and to foster collaborations amongst BCM researchers.

The three major platforms are RNAi-mediated functional genomics, BiFC-based protein-protein interaction studies, and CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing.

The C-BASS core houses several genomic libraries, including human and mouse shRNA and cDNA library collections. shRNA/cDNA clones are provided individually, in arrayed format, or as pools.  The automated instruments in the core facilitate the use of these reagents in screens and in studies of specific pathways or individual genes.

Services and Resources:

  • Human and mouse GIPZ shRNA and cDNA library collections, for a nominal fee to cover handling and storage costs
  • CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome-editing services
  • Target-based shRNA libraries or druggable genome collections
  • Lentiviral packaging and stable cell line genereation
  • Automated liquid handling such as cherry-picking and DNA prepping in 96-well format

Read core guidelines and use the online forms on the Request Services tab to get started. (One-time registration is required to set up your account.)
