The genetically engineered mouse (GEM) Core at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is a central core facility that helps BCM and other institution’s collaborative researchers to generate, rederive, import/Export and store all kinds of GEM lines. Our high quality services include ES cell microinjection to generate chimeric founder mice, DNA microinjection to generate transgenic mice, CRISPR/Cas9 (mRNA/DNA/protein) microinjection to edit the mouse genome, in vitro fertilization (IVF), cryopreservation of mouse embryo and sperm, and mouse line rederivation from fresh/frozen embryos or sperms.
The GEM Core possesses advanced technology, adequate animal resources and expensive equipment to provide high quality services for producing GEM models, allowing researchers to focus their efforts on the molecular and physiologic analysis of their mouse models.
